BUS MONITORS

2025-2026 School Year

The Beacon City School District is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Per Diem Bus Monitors.

Position Overview:

This work involves responsibility for the routine supervision and care of school-age children as well as the maintaining order on school buses, supervising the conduct of problem students and interceding in student altercations.

Responsibilities include:

• Monitors students in parking lots and supervises the loading of buses;
• Accompanies students to and from school to maintain order on buses;
• Supervises and/or attempts to calm students;
• Informs superiors of observations of student behavior;
• May assist in rendering first aid in emergencies.

• Ability to get along well with school-age children and command their respect;
• Good observation;
• Personal characteristics necessary to perform the duties of the position;
• Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position:
  • Standard #1: Bus Steps - 3 trips up & down the bus steps in 30 seconds
  • Standard #2: Door - Manually open and close entrance door 3 times
  • Standard #3: Emergency Exit – From Driver Seat and out Exit in 20 seconds
  • Standard #4: Weight Drag – 125 lbs 30 feet in 30 seconds

Schedule & Appointment:

• Flexible work schedule tailored to district needs and the employee’s availability
• 6.5-hour day based on school schedule with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
• Appointment through June 25, 2026
• Opportunities exist for employees with strong performance to move into roles with more consistent schedules

Qualifications:

• NYS Fingerprinting clearance required

$17.20/hour
