Job Description

Description: Professional Learning Community (PLC) Coordinator will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and staff to support the implementation of the new Reading curriculum. The ideal candidate will provide professional development, model effective teaching strategies, and offer individualized support to improve literacy instruction and student outcomes.

 

Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Professional Development: Attend all professional development focused on implementing the Into Reading HMH curriculum. Support professional development sessions focused on literacy instruction, assessment, and intervention strategies.
  • Mentoring: Support teachers one-on-one and small groups to provide guidance to improve their instructional practices and effectiveness.
  • Curriculum Support: Assist in developing and implementing literacy curricula aligned with state standards and best practices.
  • Collaboration: The Elementary-Level Literacy Coach will work closely with teachers, administrators, and other staff, fostering a collaborative environment to create a cohesive literacy program that supports all students. 
  • Resource Management: Identify and provide appropriate instructional resources and materials to support literacy instruction.
  • Time: The Literacy Support Coach is able to attend periodic after-school meetings pertaining to the literacy program.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must possess NYS Common Branch or Literacy license
  • Must have at least 10 years of experience
  • Must have experience facilitating professional learning sessions

 

NYS Certification Required
