Job Description

SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (1.0 FTE)

 

Anticipated Placement: Glenham Elementary

 

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will work to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and consultative services for students with speech, language, communication, and related disorders. The SLP will be an integral part of the educational team, supporting students’ ability to access the general education curriculum and participate meaningfully in school activities. This is a probationary, tenure-track position that begins at the start of the 2026-27 school year.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct speech-language therapy services to students in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or 504s.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to determine student eligibility for speech and language services.
  • Develop and implement IEP goals and objectives related to communication skills.
  • Maintain accurate records and document student progress toward IEP goals.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, administrators, and families to support students’ communication needs.
  • Participate in CSE (Committee on Special Education) meetings, including preparing and presenting evaluation results and service recommendations.
  • Provide consultation and support to staff on communication strategies and interventions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding special education and related services.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development related to the field of speech-language pathology and education.

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid New York State license in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).
  • Experience in a school-based setting is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to working collaboratively with diverse student populations and multidisciplinary teams.

 

Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services / Building Principal

 

Work Schedule & Conditions:

  • Specific schedule to be determined based on student needs and building assignment.
  • Services may include both in-class support and pull-out sessions depending on student IEPs.
  • Must be able to work across a variety of classroom settings, including general education and special education classrooms.
