Position Overview: 
The Beacon City School District is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Part-Time (1.0 FTE) English as a New Language (ENL) Teacher to serve multilingual learners across K–12 grade levels. The successful candidate will support students' academic language development and English proficiency, ensuring access to core content through aligned instruction and collaboration with classroom teachers.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct ENL instruction aligned with Part 154 of NYS Regulations and the Next Generation Learning Standards.
  • Deliver both stand-alone and integrated ENL services, depending on student need and program design.
  • Develop and implement instructional plans tailored to students’ language proficiency levels.
  • Collaborate with general education and special education teachers to support language acquisition and content access.
  • Administer and interpret NYS English language proficiency assessments (NYSESLAT/NYSITELL).
  • Monitor student progress and maintain documentation in compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Participate in school- and district-level professional development related to multilingual learner instruction.
  • Communicate effectively with families and support home-school partnerships.
     

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid New York State ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) certification
  • Knowledge of language development and culturally responsive teaching practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to equity and inclusive education

Preferred:

  • Experience in a K–12 setting
  • Familiarity with NYS Part 154 regulations and SIFE/ELL program requirements
  • Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply
