  • The ideal candidate will:
    • Blend traditional library services with technology to empower students as critical thinkers, ethical researchers, and responsible digital citizens.
    • Foster a love of reading, promote information literacy and the effective use of educational technology and digital tools, and collaborate with teachers to enhance student learning.
    • Stay current with emerging technologies to enhance learning and library services and assist students and staff in accessing and utilizing educational technology and digital tools.
    • Instruct students and staff on research databases, online archives, citation tools, and emerging technologies.
    • Advocate for the responsible use of AI, social media, and digital platforms, helping students build healthy online habits and information discernment.
    • Manage the school library; curate, organize, and maintain a diverse collection of print and digital resources; and create a welcoming space that encourages exploration and research.
    • Plan and lead literacy and digital literacy initiatives, author visits, book clubs, and library events.
    • Build partnerships with local libraries and community organizations.
    • Develop a flexible, future-ready library space that encourages creativity, collaboration, and exploration.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Valid NYS Certification in Chemistry, 7 – 12;
  • Knowledge/experience in proactive classroom management, differentiated instruction and supporting the needs of diverse learners in the classroom;
  •     Knowledge/experience in Adolescent Education at high school level preferred;
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills;
  • Implements effective classroom management and student engagement strategies to promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Implements culturally responsive teaching practices to support learner needs;
  • Implements effective student and family engagement strategies;
  • Implements strategies for collaboration with colleagues in a high school team model.

Per Diem Substitute Teachers010

The Beacon City School District seeks candidates who are NYS Certified and/or who are currently enrolled as an Education Major in an accredited College or University to provide instruction in all subject areas to the District’s Elementary, Middle and High Schools on a per diem needed basis.  Must have the knowledge and the ability to use various virtual platforms as needed in relation to the position.

 Daily compensation rates:

  • Non-certified substitutes: $90/day

  • NYS certified substitutes: $115/day

  • Retired Beacon Teachers’ Association substitutes: $125/day
