MICROCOMPUTER SOFTWARE SPECIALIST

The Beacon City School District is seeking an innovative, highly motivated microcomputer software specialist.  Applicants must demonstrate the ability to fully support stand alone and networked microcomputer software applications and to ascertain software and programming needs.  Successful candidates should be able to develop appropriate applications or recommend new systems to meet such needs.  The position is also responsible for developing trainings in such software as well as evaluation procedures to measure software performance.  

Candidates should demonstrate strengths in consulting with colleagues and supporting software users.  They should also be able to perform software installation, customization and programming of application software and provide ongoing technical assistance to computer center staff and system users.  

Chosen candidates will work under the supervision of a technology director and assistant director and alongside our student information systems specialist.  

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and:

 

Either:  (A)   Graduation from a regionally accredited or NY state registered college or   

                        university with an associate's degree in computer science, data processing, or a 

                        closely related field, AND two years of full time work experience which involved 

                        primarily microcomputer software development in a LAN environment;

 

OR:   (B)       Four years of work experience as described in (A);

 

OR:  (C)        An equivalent combination of training and experience as indicated in (A) and (B)
