Beacon High School is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Assistant Principal to join our team. The ideal candidate will contribute to a positive school culture by supporting students, faculty, staff, and families in alignment with our mission to prepare every student for learning, life, and work beyond school.

 

Responsibilities:

• Oversee student discipline for half of the student body (assigned alphabetically), using fair, equitable, and restorative practices that promote accountability and personal growth and uphold the standards of the Code of Conduct.

• Observe and evaluate teachers, providing meaningful feedback that supports professional development and instructional improvement.

• Work closely with administrator colleagues to ensure consistent communication, shared leadership, and smooth school operations.

• Support faculty and staff through clear communication, collaboration, and a commitment to a respectful, inclusive working environment.

• Work closely with guidance counselors, student services personnel, and related staff to address the academic, social, and emotional needs of students.

• Foster strong relationships with families and engage actively in the life of the school, including at after-school and evening events and activities.

 

Qualifications:

• Valid New York State School Building Leader (SBL) certification (required).

• Experience working in a high school setting (preferred).

• Knowledge of New York State Standards, graduation requirements, and state testing protocols.

• Familiarity with restorative practices and a commitment to student-centered discipline.

• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

 

This is a 12-month position with a start date of July 2025.
Compensation per the Beacon Educational Administrators Association (BEAA) contract.
