NYS Certification Students with Disabilities Birth-Grade 2, Grades 1-6 Required;

 

Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the following are required:

  • NYS Learning Standards and curriculum design, delivery, and assessment for secondary education;
  • Effective instructional practices for specially designed instruction and the delivery of special education services for students with disabilities in general education settings and special class settings;
  • Effective, student centered classroom management strategies;
  • Differentiated instruction to support the needs of diverse learners in the classroom;
  • Culturally responsive instructional practices support student learning needs;
  • Integration of technology to plan, deliver, and assess student learning;
  • Use of summative and formative student data to inform instructional decisions and student progress;
  • Effective strategies for student and family engagement;
  • Knowledge/experience with IEP Direct for development, implementation and progress monitoring of student’s IEP’s;
  • Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills required;
  • Prior teaching experience within Elementary Special Class settings preferred;
  • Prior teacher experience and/or skills supporting individuals with Autism and utilization of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices preferred.

Compensation per BTA Contract

$58,000 (BA Step 1) - $64,000 (MA Step 1)
