ABOUT THE POSITION:

Beacon High School is seeking a New York State-certified Chemistry teacher. This is a probationary, tenure-track position that begins at the start of the 2026-27 school year.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•      Anticipated teaching assignment is two sections of Regents Chemistry, two sections of Regents Chemistry Lab; and one section of a Chemistry elective and/or ICT Conceptual Chemistry class 

•      Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that meet diverse learning needs

•      Foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes curiosity, respect, and a growth mindset

•      Use data-driven instruction to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies

•      Communicate proactively with students, families, and colleagues regarding academic progress

•      Participate in department meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives

•      Contribute to extracurricular activities, clubs, or athletic programs when possible

•      Anticipated teaching assignment is two sections of Regents Physics, two sections of Regents Physics Lab; and one section of a STEM-focused elective; candidates who are interested in developing an AP Physics program are also encouraged to apply.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Beacon High School is seeking a New York State-certified Music teacher. This is a probationary, tenure-track position that begins at the start of the 2026-27 school year. While NYS K-12 Music Certification is required, this position is Chorus-specific, and candidates with experience as a trained vocalist are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct the high school chorus program, including mixed, treble, and/or vocal ensemble groups as applicable
  • Plan and deliver choral rehearsals that develop sight-reading, vocal technique, music theory, and ensemble listening skills
  • Organize and lead public performances including concerts, seasonal programs, and community events
  • Teach general or elective music courses at the high school level as assigned (e.g., Music Production, Guitar)
  • Collaborate with instrumental and fine arts colleagues to support a cohesive, well-rounded arts program
  • Audition, place, and provide individualized feedback to student singers across varying skill levels
  • Prepare and accompany students for regional and state choral festivals and competitions (e.g., NYSSMA)
  • Manage chorus program logistics including music library, performance attire, and concert scheduling
  • Foster an inclusive, joyful rehearsal environment that encourages participation from singers of all backgrounds and experience levels
  • Support and encourage student involvement in extracurricular musical opportunities within and beyond the school
